Fernando Alonso was the quickest driver on Friday evening in Bahrain, as the Aston Martin topped the timesheets of the second practice session, ahead of the Red Bull pair of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
On the soft tyre, Alonso set a time of 1m 30.907s to lead Verstappen by 0.169s, and third-place Perez by 0.171s. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was fourth quickest overall, ahead of the Haas of Nico Hulkenberg, who rounded out the top five.

Despite struggling with his wrists, Lance Stroll set the sixth-quickest time, as the Aston Martin driver finished ahead of the Alpine of Pierre Gasly, in seventh, the Mercedes pair of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, in eighth and 13th respectively and Carlos Sainz in 14th.
There were no major incidents in the session, although we did see a number of drivers – including Oscar Piastri at Turn 1 – continue to run wide and lock up into the corner as they got to grips with the Bahrain International Circuit.
