Lando Norris secured a mighty pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix with his final effort as he clocked a record-breaking lap time, beating local favourite Charles Leclerc to the top spot. Here's all the best facts and stats from the exhilarating Qualifying hour...

  • Norris set the first sub 70-second lap in Monaco history with his time of 1m 9.954s.

  • It was also McLaren's first pole position at the street circuit since 2007, when Fernando Alonso set the fastest lap with a 1m 15.726s.

  • The Woking outfit are the most successful team in Monaco, with 15 victories under their belt.

  • Norris' last four race wins have all come from starting on pole (Australia, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and the Netherlands).

  • Leclerc missed out on pole position after leading all three practice sessions across the weekend.

  • The Monegasque has previously taken three pole positions at his home race, but has never started from P2.

  • Second place on the grid has not been his favourite – he has only won from there once before, back in 2022 in Austria when he passed Max Verstappen three times in the race.

  • History is against him too, as only three of the last 21 Grands Prix in Monaco have been won from P2.

  • Oscar Piastri qualified in P3 to maintain his record of being the only driver to start every race this season in the top four.

  • After recovering from his crash in FP3, Lewis Hamilton claimed his highest Grand Prix start for Ferrari in P4.

  • Nico Hulkenberg took P13 – he has only started higher up the grid once this season, when he was P12 in China.

  • With Kimi Antonelli and George Russell both failing to set lap times in Q2, Mercedes didn't reach Q3 for the first time since Imola 2022. Before that, they hadn't missed out since Suzuka 2012.

  • Before today, Russell was one of four drivers to reach Q3 at every race this season, but will start the Monaco Grand Prix from P14.
