The opening day of action at the Bahrain Grand Prix saw Oscar Piastri top the timesheets, the McLaren driver setting the pace during Friday’s Free Practice 2.
With the sun having set at the Bahrain International Circuit, the second hour of practice took place in conditions more representative of Saturday’s Qualifying, with lap times proving much quicker than those recorded in FP1.
FP2: Piastri leads Norris as McLaren dominate second practice in Bahrain
It was Piastri who went fastest of all with his effort of 1m 30.505s, just over one-tenth quicker than team mate Lando Norris in second, while George Russell was third for Mercedes.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli rounded out the top five, the latter having returned to action after experiencing an issue with his car during first practice.
