Max Verstappen produced a dominant display on Friday afternoon to lead the way in the second practice session at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix.
On the soft tyre, Verstappen set a time of 1m 45.507s to head rival Charles Leclerc by 0.862s – with the Monegasque the only driver within a second of the Red Bull racer. Lando Norris produced an impressive performance to round out the top three.
Lance Stroll was in fine form on Friday, as he picked up where he left off in FP1 to finish in P4, ahead of Carlos Sainz in fifth, the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton in sixth and the soon-to-be-departing Alpine driver Fernando Alonso in seventh.
FP2: Dominant Verstappen comfortably clear of Leclerc in second Spa practice session
George Russell came home in eighth, followed by the other McLaren driver of Daniel Ricciardo in ninth, with Sergio Perez rounding out the top 10 after dealing with a hydraulics issue for parts of the session.
The session produced no red flags, although we did see a number of drivers run wide into the gravel, including Pierre Gasly and Mick Schumacher.
