Mercedes target Madring gains as every team's upgrades are revealed

A new track like the Madring automatically comes with a wide array of challenges, from finding the perfect racing line to working out how to control tyre degradation. To make it easier – or more complicated, depending on how you look at it – some teams will introduce upgrades over the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. We've rounded up all the details below...

Mercedes

Mercedes have hinted at bringing more significant upgrades later in the season, but for now, they've stuck with circuit-specific changes to generate appropriate load and drag. These include reducing the rear wing central winglet span and adding another winglet behind the exhaust.

The front lip has also been reprofiled to improve flow attachment through all steer conditions, which isn't exclusively for this weekend.

Ferrari

The Scuderia have only got one small update as they've adapted the rear suspension fairing profile, with the aim of returning a local load benefit.

McLaren

Seeking another strong points haul, McLaren have some additional rear wing furniture, improving flow conditioning onto the rear wing mainplane and flap elements.

Red Bull

Building on their work from Monza, Red Bull's main priority for this weekend is reliability. They've altered the rear wheel bodywork assembly to restore the load of earlier races and made a geometric change to the floor bib.

Racing Bulls

Racing Bulls, currently the 'best of the rest' in the Constructors' Championship, haven't submitted any upgrades for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Alpine

After a superb weekend in Italy saw Pierre Gasly claim pole position, Alpine have optimised the forward floor board to improve the local pressure distribution and flow management.

Haas

Haas made numerous adjustments to their chassis and gave Ollie Bearman the latest Ferrari power unit last time out, so haven't brought any further upgrades.

Audi

Audi finished in the points four rounds in a row before their streak came to an end in Italy. They've also decided not to bring any updates to the car this weekend.

Williams

Williams are still holding out for their major upgrade package at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, so Alex Albon and home favourite Carlos Sainz won't have any changes to maximise in Spain. However, they're using Friday's practice sessions to test some components for next year's car.

Aston Martin

It's only been a few rounds since Aston Martin debuted their B-spec challenger in Hungary, so they're taking the time to maximise its performance, as well as that of the updated Honda power unit. To that end, no upgrades have been listed for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Cadillac

Last up are Cadillac, the only team without a point on the board. They've reintroduced an updated central trailing edge winglet on the rear wing flap to generate more rear aerodynamic load and improve stability.

A vane has also been added to the outboard diffuser sidewall, targeting further aerodynamic performance and increased load at the rear of the car.
