MONDAY MORNING DEBRIEF: Why the competitive order was jumbled across the weekend in China – but Piastri shone throughout


The victorious Oscar Piastri was the only driver from the four front-running teams who was competitive throughout the Shanghai Sprint format weekend. The competitive order around him was notably volatile as the resurfaced track’s characteristics changed from one day to the next.
Piastri’s McLaren team mate Lando Norris was able to apply some pressure in the Grand Prix, until his late brake problem, and he believed that, had it not been for that issue, he had the pace in hand to launch an attack on the Australian.
