MUST-SEE: Albon’s FP2 ends early in Mexico after Turn 7 crash

Red Bull’s Alex Albon got a bit too greedy in Free Practice 2 for the Mexican Grand Prix, ending up in the wall at Turn 7 as he tried to get up to speed with the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on his first ever visit to the track.

Reflecting on his FP2 accident, Albon said: "I wasn’t expecting it to go like that, but just a bit of a careless mistake. Use a bit too much track and these things go quickly, so when it did snap it went pretty quick.

"We missed a good chunk of the long running data, so it won’t be easy. I think we’ll have to change the run plan for tomorrow in FP3 and then we’ll have to find a good solution for qualifying," he said.

However, with team mate Max Verstappen aiming for a third-straight victory in Mexico City, Albon saw the potential of Red Bull's machine.

"I think the car’s good. I think it shows what the car was like the last two years. I’ve just got to kind of rebuild the rhythm a little bit for tomorrow and then fight for the qualifying," he concluded.
