MUST-SEE: Hulkenberg brings out the red flags as he crashes during FP1
Nico Hulkenberg brought out the red flags after crashing during FP1 at the Dutch Grand Prix.
Replays showed the Haas driver lose the rear of his car at the penultimate corner before sliding across the gravel and making contact with the barrier. Thankfully for the Haas team, the contact with the barrier was light, with the banked gravel trap very nearly stopping the car.
However, with Hulkenberg beached in the gravel, the incident brought an end to his session with just over a quarter of an hour to go.
Team Principal Guenther Steiner told Sky Sports F1 afterwards that there was front wing damage as a result of the collision – to one of the team’s new front wings – with only one other left to use.
