Norris and Ocon to join Stroll and Tsunoda in starting from the back of the grid in Mexico after taking new PU elements

McLaren's Lando Norris will start the Mexico City Grand Prix from the back of the grid having taken new Mercedes power unit components on Saturday. He will be joined at the rear of the field by Alpine's Esteban Ocon and two other drivers on Sunday.
The Briton was the last of the Mercedes-powered drivers not to have received a penalty for exceeding his allocation of three internal combustion engines, with Lewis Hamilton having received a 10-place penalty in Turkey – while three other Mercedes-powered drivers took new PU components in the United States.
But Norris has now received a new Mercedes internal combustion engine (ICE), turbo and MGU-H, with the stewards confirming on Saturday afternoon that he would now have to start the race from the back of the grid.
Alpine's Esteban Ocon will start at the back too as he has taken a new Renault ICE, turbo, MGU-H, MGU-K, energy store, control electronics and exhaust this weekend. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll (Mercedes) and AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda (Honda) make it four relegated drivers, as they have also taken new PU elements at this race.
George Russell of Williams has also been hit with a five-place grid penalty after losing his FP2 to a gearbox issue, the team having fitted a new gearbox on Friday evening.
Furthermore, there continues to be speculation as to whether Hamilton will take new PU components with five races remaining, after Mercedes Team Principal said “the risk [of penalties] is still there” last time out in Texas.
