Everyone loves to see a Ferrari on pole at Monza, right? Well, that’s exactly what we have for the Italian Grand Prix after Carlos Sainz edged team mate Charles Leclerc by just 0.067s in qualifying. Even more incredibly, Max Verstappen split the scarlet cars, putting Red Bull’s world champion on the front row as he guns for a record 10th successive win.
Mercedes’ George Russell heads the chasing pack for when the lights go out, but will have the Red Bull of Sergio Perez and the Williams of Alex Albon hot on his heels, not to mention the McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, who are split on the grid by his Silver Arrows team mate Lewis Hamilton.

Elsewhere, look out for the other Italian team, AlphaTauri. They line up on row six, with Yuki Tsunoda only narrowly out-qualifying Daniel Riccardo stand-in Liam Lawson, who prepares for only his second Grand Prix start.
And keep your eye on Lance Stroll. The Canadian's difficult weekend continued in qualifying – he starts last, but will be out to rapidly gain places for Aston Martin, who have Fernando Alonso leading their charge from 10th on the grid.
