For the first time in 2025 we have a Ferrari starting a Grand Prix from pole position. The question now is can Charles Leclerc stay ahead of the all-conquering McLarens when the lights go out at the Hungaroring.
Leclerc will have championship leader Oscar Piastri and team mate Lando Norris breathing down his neck in the run to Turn 1, and don’t discount P4 qualifier George Russell getting in on the action for Mercedes on the opening lap.
Come to that, probably best to keep an eye on the Aston Martins too. The team in green have been the biggest shock of the Budapest weekend so far, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll a superb fifth and sixth respectively on the grid.
There was another superlative qualifying performance from rookie Gabriel Bortoleto, who put his Kick Sauber a stunning seventh, immediately ahead of the Red Bull of reigning World Champion Max Verstappen. Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar complete the top 10 starters.
Starting from the pit lane will be Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese driver had qualified 16th, but Red Bull have since opted to change the power unit and set-up on his car.
