The Yas Marina Circuit first appeared on the F1 calendar back in 2009. But ahead of the 2021 race, the circuit got a makeover, with changes at three major points on the track.
A new Turn 5, a new Turn 9 and refinements to the ‘street circuit’ Sector 3 designed to make it more flowing have all added up to make a lap of the circuit over 10s faster than it was last year, with the drivers exploring the changes as they headed out onto track for Free Practice 1 of what’s set to be a historic weekend.
