PODCAST: Former Lotus boss Peter Collins on working with Chapman, Hakkinen and Mansell

While the name Peter Collins might for most F1 fans be associated with the 1950s Ferrari driver, Formula 1’s other Peter Collins is the special guest on this week’s episode of Beyond The Grid – and what a story the former Team Lotus boss has to tell.
Born and raised in Australia, a failed job application to Lotus prompted Collins to boldly move to Europe to pursue his dream of working in F1.
He duly impressed Lotus boss Colin Chapman second time around, and in 1978, Collins began working as team manager for the iconic squad before stints at Williams, ATS and Benetton.

Later, the wheel came full circle, with Collins taking over the running of Team Lotus with Peter Wright, a project that lasted until the team shut up shop at the end of 1994.
From Keke Rosberg to Nigel Mansell, Mika Hakkinen, Gerhard Berger and Johnny Herbert, Peter Collins worked with some of the best names in the business during his time in F1 – and fortunately for us, he has incredible stories to tell about all of them!
