
Ralf Schumacher on his brother and ‘idol’ Michael – 20 years after the seven-time champion’s last F1 win

On this day in 2006, Michael Schumacher took the chequered flag a few seconds ahead of Fernando Alonso at a cloudy and wet Shanghai International Circuit, punching the air in delight as he drew level with his title rival in the championship standings.
Nobody knew it at the time, but it would go down as the 91st and last win of the German’s incredible F1 career, which also featured a whopping 68 pole positions, 155 podium finishes and more than 1,500 points across just over 300 Grands Prix.
