WATCH: Colapinto finds the barriers and brings out red flags during rain-soaked qualifying in Sao Paulo
F1 rookie Franco Colapinto spun into the barriers during a challenging wet Sunday morning qualifying session for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, bringing out the red flags to temporarily halt Q1.
With qualifying delayed into Sunday morning after heavy rain hit Interlagos on Saturday, the Williams driver had a small slide at Turn 2 which sent him onto the wide line on the damp track – before a moment of wheelspin at the following corner led to him slamming sideways into the barriers.

The Medical Car was deployed, but Colapinto reported over the radio that he was okay after the incident – while before his crash, there had already been multiple yellow flags as drivers skidded off track in the tricky conditions.
As the red flag was waved with 8m 50s remaining, the Argentine was P9 on the timesheets with his team mate Alex Albon in the relegation zone, although Colapinto would eventually drop to P18 in the classification.
