There was a time when loopholes in the F1 regulations meant that teams used to turn up at Monaco with every conceivable type of wing attached to their cars in a bid to add all-important downforce.
Sadly – or not, depending on your point of view – innovations like Tyrrell’s famous 'X-wings' are no longer legal, with teams today having to come up with new ways to shovel on downforce and give their drivers confidence around the tight confines of the Monaco Grand Prix track.
