A new era of Formula 1 has dawned in 2022, with a wholly revised breed of cars hitting the track at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the start of pre-season running.
Jolyon Palmer is just a few years out of frontline F1 driving himself, and spent the three days in Barcelona casting his expert eye over the action from trackside, as this new generation of machines – which generate much of their downforce via ground effect-inducing venturi tunnels on the underside of the cars – were put through their paces.
