WATCH: Ride onboard with Carlos Sainz as he storms through the field at Monza
Carlos Sainz may have just missed out on a first podium with Ferrari at Monza – but his performance at Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix was one to remember, as the Spaniard carved his way through the field to finish fourth.
Starting in 18th place after receiving a back-of-the-grid penalty for exceeding his allocation on gearbox and engine components, Sainz made a fast start in the first few laps, overtaking the likes of Sergio Perez and Sebastian Vettel to make it up to 10th place by Lap 6.
After getting past Daniel Ricciardo, Sainz was up to fourth by Lap 13, leaving him with George Russell in his sights for the final podium position.
A pit stop dropped him back down the order, forcing him to re-pass a string of cars to end up behind Russell once again and looking for that podium spot. However, as the race ended under the Safety Car, he had to settle for P4.
