WATCH: Ride onboard with Norris for the fastest lap of Friday in Abu Dhabi
McLaren's Lando Norris was the driver to beat in Friday's running for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Lando Norris set the pace on the opening day of action at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, building a commanding advantage over his championship rival Max Verstappen in the second practice hour.
After he topped the timesheets in FP1 by just 0.008s, Norris repeated the feat in FP2 as he set a time of 1m 23.083s to beat the Red Bull driver by 0.363s, both drivers achieving their fastest laps on soft compound tyres.
With the title on the line, ending the first day of the final round firmly on top puts the Briton in a strong position to chase down his maiden championship, especially with his team mate Oscar Piastri only managing to set the 11th fastest time in FP2.
