WATCH: Spins galore in final Turkish GP practice as drivers tackle wet Istanbul Park
A wet start to running on Saturday morning saw drivers take to the Istanbul Park circuit with trepidation for Free Practice 3 for the Turkish Grand Prix – a trepidation that proved to be well-founded, as George Russell spun off into the gravel, bringing out the first red flag of the weekend, while many of his fellow drivers also suffered spins.
With the track at or near the point where intermediate tyres were quicker than the extreme wets, Russell headed out onto the circuit on the green-walled tyres, but came a cropper at Turn 2, spinning wildly into the gravel – but fortunately coming to a stop before hitting the barriers, which would have been a relief to his watching Williams mechanics ahead of qualifying.

But he was far from the only driver to suffer a spin, with Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel among the other drivers to loop their cars as they tried to get dialled into the wet track.
