Where is the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix taking place?
The Canadian Grand Prix will be held at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, which is uniquely located on the man-made Notre Dame Island in the middle of the St Lawrence River.
Originally used for the 1967 Expo 67 World's Fair and 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics, the island’s roads were converted into a race track, hosting its first Grand Prix in 1978 under the moniker Circuit Ile Notre-Dame.
The venue has produced no shortage of drama in previous seasons, with George Russell taking Mercedes’ first victory of 2025 here as he edged out Max Verstappen and Antonelli. But perhaps an even bigger talking point was the late collision between McLaren team mates Norris and Piastri which brought their back-and-forth battle to a head.
What is the weather forecast in Canada?
Conditions currently look temperate and cloudy in Montreal, with temperatures reaching the low twenties. However, the potential for light rain on Saturday and Sunday could add another challenging element for teams and drivers to tackle.
