WATCH: Stroll escapes heavy high-speed crash in Azerbaijan unscathed
After a miserable Saturday, when he crashed in the early stages of qualifying, Lance Stroll had been enjoying a fine Sunday afternoon, using a long opening stint on the hard tyre to run comfortably inside the top 10 from a back of the grid start. But on lap 30, disaster struck when the Aston Martin driver's left-rear tyre suffered an apparent blowout on the high-speed pit straight, pitching him heavily into the wall.
Thankfully, Stroll was able to climb from his heavily damaged car uninjured, with the Safety Car deployed to neutralise the race and allow marshals to clear fragments of bodywork from the track.
